In 2019, we will be sharing our raised funds from our street party with these amazing community groups

Exeter Food Bank

Exeter Food Bank is the local food bank responsible for providing food parcels to Exminster residents in need. In the last few months, this has been expanded so that food can be collected from local distribution centres around Exminster. ELT will be supporting Exeter Food Bank in 2 ways. Firstly, there will be a collection point on the day of ELT and attendees will be asked to bring along a little extra food from their cupboards which will then be given to Exeter Food Bank. We hope this will result in over £500 of food being donated.

In addition to this, ELT will be providing a grant of £250 to be used to provide 50 fresh food vouchers allowing food bank beneficiaries to be able to buy fresh produce locally. These will be used exclusively for Exminster residents.

Exminster Christmas Meal Initiative

For many people, Christmas is full of fun times spent with friends and family. For many others though, it can be a time of immense pressure and extreme loneliness. A local resident has taken on the challenge of helping to alleviate the problems for vulnerable people living in Exminster by providing a meal in Victory Hall on Christmas Day. The event is in the early stages of planning and ELT has offerded a grant of up to £350 to help cover the cost.

Exminster Film Club

Setting up new clubs often involves costs that can prevent their launch thereby denying beneficiaries the chance to enjoy the activities. Following the recent installation of a high quality projector in the Victory Hall capable of showing films, there has been a desire from some of the Exminster Community to start a film club in the village. This would enable residents to meet together in a local setting to watch films at a fraction of the cost of commercial cinemas as well as removing the need to use transport to go into Exeter which is sometimes a hurdle to the most isolated in our community.  ELT has offered to provide a grant of up to £250 to help with the initial setting up of the Exminster Film Club and during the first few months as the membership grows.

Exminster Baby & Toddler Group

Exminster Baby & Toddler Group is a long running club in our village and over the many years has probably been a place where hundreds (if not thousands) of local families could attend. ELT will be providing a grant of up to £250 towards buying new toys, storage boxes and floor mats so that this important club can continue to provide a fantastic environment for our young children.

The Nayamba Trust

Proceeds from the ELT continue to be split evenly between the Exminster Community and the Nayamba community in rural Zambia. This year, the money will once again be used to support the food programme at Nayamba School where over 320 children from pre-school age to year 9 are provided with a nutritional meal every day that has been enhanced with additional vitamins and minerals. For many of the school population, this is the only meal they regularly have and is vital to prevent malnutrition and help the educational outcome.
